Child Care Subsidy has changed, and it could make a real difference

From 5 January 2026, eligible families can access at least three days of subsidised care per week (up to 72 hours per fortnight), regardless of their activity level.

That means families who previously received limited support, or assumed they didn't qualify at all, may now have access to more affordable early learning than they realised.

How childcare funding works

The Child Care Subsidy (CCS) reduces your out-of-pocket fees by contributing toward the cost of approved early learning. Your subsidy amount depends on:
